Industry-Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC)

PREAMBLE:

The ‘Composition, Rules & Regulations and Policies’ of Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC), GIPS mentioned herein, shall come into effect from 20.06.2012 and shall remain in force until further notification. The contents mentioned herein, either in full or part, are liable to be altered by the College Authority at any time, by due notification.

Industry Institute Partnership Cell:

The Industry-Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC) of the college is a dedicated cell to promote the close interaction of industry and various departments of the institute. The IIP Cell facilitates consultancy, sponsored R&D projects and industrial and academic training that are not prescribed in the syllabus in addition to conducting industrial training and interaction meets.

The initial focus of this cell was to closely interact with industries situated in and around Guwahati and later expand the efforts to move the partnership and activities across Assam and throughout the country. Industries and Technical institutions have a strong mutuality of interest which forms the basis of a partnership between them. This cell will enable the people and industries, in particular, to know about the facilities for training, testing and research activities in the college’s departments. Further, it will ensure proper and fruitful interactions with industries and keep students with modern advancements in the area of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Objectives:

Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, Azara, Guwahati has set up an Industry Institute Partnership Cell for the above purpose. Industries and Technical institutions have a strong mutuality of interest which forms the basis of a partnership between them. The institute has set up an industry-institute partnership cell with the following objectives:

• Developing close links between Industry-Institute by interaction programs. High priority is given to activities designed to bring about improvement in the performance of industries.
• Mobilizing industrial personnel- A partnership approach
• Identifying the present-day requirements for professionals and meeting the future human resource needs.
• Disseminating technical advances through informal educational techniques.
• Training the shop floor personnel through a continuing educational programme.
• Publishing and issuing technical bulletins newsletters and course material with the latest technological developments.
• Organizing seminars, symposiums, exhibitions and workshops.
• Collaborating with other societies (National and International) having similar objectives.
• Widening and effectively implementing the area of R&D and consultancy.

Functioning of the committee:

• Arranging industrial training for students and faculty members.
• Identifying the opportunities for student project work in Industries.
• Encourages the department level tie-ups or MoUs with Industries for mutual benefit.
• Research and development activities with industry.
• Promoting consultancy activities, and training courses for industry people.
• Enrich the teaching-learning process through identified industrial training/visits.
• Planning for student’s industrial visit.
• Inviting industry experts for guest lectures, seminars and expertise sharing.

Meeting Frequency: Twice a year.
